Psychological Evaluations in Philadelphia
A More Thoughtful, Individualized Approach to Understanding
A More Thoughtful, Individualized Approach to Understanding
Psychological evaluations are often sought at moments when clarity is needed— about a child, a family dynamics, or a complex situation.
Many individuals and families come to this process having had prior diagnoses or evaluations that felt incomplete—overly reliant on testing, limited in scope, or not fully reflective of their lived experience.
My approach is different.
Beyond Test Scores
While standardized measures can provide useful information, they represent only one part of a much larger picture.
A meaningful evaluation rquires:
Time
Careful listening
Context
A deep understanding of the individual or family system
My work prioritizes comprehensive interviews, observation, and thoughtful integration of multiple perspectives.
The goal is not simply to generate scores, but to develop a clear, accurate understanding of the person as a whole.
A Deeper Process - Evaluations are designed to move beyond surface-level impressions and capture the complexity of each individual.
-
In-depth clinical interviews
Time spent understanding personal history, current functioning, and the nuances that cannot be captured through testing alone.
-
Extended time with children and caregivers
Allowing for observation, rapport building, and a more authentic understanding of of behavior and relationships
-
Collateral Interviews
Gathering perspectives from those who know the child, family, or adult in different contexts (e.g. caregivers, educators, colleagues, or other professionals).
-
Thoughtful use of assessment tools
When appropriate, standardized measures are used to complement— not replace— clinical judgment.
What This Approach Allows
A fuller, more accurate understanding of the individual
Greater context around behaviors and challenges
Identification of patterns that may otherwise by overlooked
Recommendations that are both meaningful and applicable in real life
Rather than relying heavily on isolated data points, the evaluation reflects a carefully considered synthesis of all available information.
Who This is For
This approach is particularly valuable for:
Families who have previously completed evaluations that did not feel accurate or complete

The evaluation is an impartial process. It’s not about proving guilt or innocence but about providing a balanced, professional perspective.
-
Evidence-based recommendations are provided in every report. Recommendations are comprehensive and may include strategies for home, work/school, and other settings to best support you or your child. Recommendations may also focus on additional services that you or your child may benefit from such as different therapies or consultation with other specialized professionals.

The length of the evaluation depends on many factors, including how quickly we can schedule appointments and the complexity of the situation. I do my best to complete evaluations as quickly as possible and aim to do so within about 6-8 weeks from our first meeting.

You control what you share. The psychologist’s role is to listen respectfully and ask questions to better understand things from your perspective. You can discuss what to share with your attorney if you are unsure.
